Japanese Style
This style is known for finding a reflex in the body, and the distal release. Generally, these treatments are done on both sides of the body in a single session and are palpation based. The needling is often shallow and there is liberal use of moxibustion and ancillary equipment. Often a change in condition is noted immediately. I studied this style under Kiiko Matsumoto.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)
Zang Fu – organ related. The most common style of acupuncture used today. Standardized treatments often used to treat pain, and internal organ related issues, such as digestion disorders, sleep disorders, and emotional disorders.
Five Elements / Five Phase
This style is known to treat branch (symptom) and root (cause). Once the cause of the imbalance meridian is determined, treatments are then focused on that specific meridian which will start a reaction to bring the entire body back to balance and health.
Sotai
In the spirit of Dr. Kiezo Hasimoto of Japan, and taught to me by Peter Thompson, Dr. Hashimoto’s student, is structural in nature and, I strongly adhere that form and function are symbiotic in nature. This style if treatment is the base core of all my treatments because it is so complete and works so well with every other style.
